Aura Dance Theatre is the first contemporary dance theatre in Lithuania. It was founded by Birutė Letukaitė as a modern dance studio in 1980 and established as the Dance Theatre of Kaunas in 1995. In 2011, it became an international dance company, presenting performances and winning numerous awards across all continents. In 1989, the theatre started the first international modern dance festival in Lithuania, held annually in Kaunas ever since as “International Dance Festival Aura”. In 2022, the President of Lithuania awarded B. Letukaite the "Cross of the Officer" for her merits to the country of Lithuania.
